Abby and Mike’s wedding was definitely one we will never forget!

When Abby walked in she immediately stole the show with her jaw-dropping bouquet. White ranunculas and peonies were paired flawlessly with the greenery brunia, broad leaf dusty miller, snow berries, gunni eucalyptus, cedar, and white pine. Her bouquet was tied together with lace from her mother’s wedding bouquet from years ago. Abby’s bridesmaids had smaller, very similar bouquets to hers but with small splashes of playa blanca roses. And of course, boutonnieres! Mike’s boutonniere was an ivory ranuc with cedar, white pine, and mini pine cones all wrapped with twine. Each groomsman boutonniere was made unique from one another but all consisted of cedar, white pine, and a mini pine cone.

The ceremony was preformed at the Hales Corner Church. The alter had a large arrangement made mostly with white hydrangeas, white roses, and lots of textured greenery. The aisle was lined with pine and greens with a satin bow hanging from the pews. After the ceremony, everyone moved over to the reception which was held at The Best Place in Milwaukee. The centerpieces were held in birch boxes with a variety of flowers and greenery inside to match the bouquets of Abby and the bridesmaids.

We love you Abby and wish you and Mike nothing but years of happiness!

Jenna + Paul = Perfect

An outstanding August wedding

Jenna and Paul’s wedding was perfectly unique!

Jenna’s handheld bouquet was unforgettable. Her bouquet was organic and full of texture with a nude and off white palette with a splash of wine. It had burgundy dahlias, white hydrangeas, hanging amaranthus, and mother of pearl roses. Pairing those flowers with the greens of seeded eucalyptus, silver dollar eucalyptus, and broad leaf dusty miller made the bouquet come to life! The bridesmaids got a very similar smaller version of Jenna’s bouquet but with more hints of blush thrown in. For Paul’s boutonniere he had a single white rose with a mix of greens perfectly pulled together with a twine wrap. All the groomsmen and Jenna’s dad had a boutonniere that had matching greens with Paul’s. All of the bouquets and boutonnieres worked together effortlessly!

The reception, which was held at Terrace 167, had flowers flowing from every table. With Jenna and Paul’s wedding, they made everything perfectly unique to their personalities. All of the center pieces from the tables were flowers held in a variation of different bottles giving the venue and rustic and simplistic feel. There was a variation of sizes of bottles giving the center pieces all different heights. All the Feels Photography captured the story of their wedding beautifully!

We wish Jenna and Paul years of happiness and love. We are always happy to help contribute to a couple’s special day!

Davien's Wedding

Emily + Joe = LOVE!
A Popping Pink Wedding

Photographer: The Art of Life
Florist: Bank of Flowers
Ceremony/Reception: Davian's

Emily and Joe's wedding can be summed up in three words: bright, bold, and beautiful!

The couple chose a stunning arrangement of roses, hydrangeas, carnations, and stock in blush, pink, medium pink, hot pink, and fuchsia. The bouquets were compact and lush and had their handles wrapped in navy satin. The bridesmaids matched perfectly with the flowers, wearing short navy dresses matched with fuchsia heels. The groom's boutonniere was spray roses in fuchsia with a blush accent as well as some greens.

Emily and Joe said their "I do's" surrounded by friends and family at Davian's, where love was flowing throughout. The ceremony moved to the gazebo of Davian's, which was full of much laughter and dancing. It was a night to remember!

We are so happy for the loving couple, and wish you may year of happiness! Congrats to Emily and Joe!

Meet the Staff: Dana!

Dana has been a Bank of Memories, Menomonee Falls Team Member for just about 2 ½ years now.  Dana grew up just down the road from our shop, and would often stop in for fresh flowers for her mom.  She loved the atmosphere so much that when she noticed we were hiring, she just had to put in her application!
Dana started with us as a junior in high school and is now going into her sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin--Madison.  In addition to her passion for floral designing, Dana is highly interested in Political Science and Journalism, both of which she plans to study during her time in college.

While Dana is unable to work with us during the school year, she more than makes up for it working full time at our Menomonee Falls shop during her summers!  Talk about dedication!  Dana’s favorite flower is the garden rose, due to its fragrance, shape, and uniqueness. Some of her other favorite things include dogs (of all shapes and sizes), freshly baked brownies, and reading a great book on a rainy day.

When asked what her favorite part of the job is, she replied “I love getting to put the finishing touches on weddings—from adding bling to arrangements or wrapping bouquets with satin ribbons.  It’s almost like getting to be a small part of the wedding, and contributing to the general happiness and love that is being celebrated!”

A Day For Mom!

Mothers are the hardest working, least appreciated people in our lives and Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity to show them just how much they mean to all of us.  Flowers help express our gratitude and thanks to the most important women in our lives, our Moms.

Ever since we were little we have given Mom flowers,  either the freshest dandelions from the lawn or the first bloom from her prized rose bush, flowers have been a mainstay in Mother's Day gifts.  Your local florist can help you choose the floral gift best suited for your mom, grandma or other special woman in your life. The staff at Bank of Memories & Flowers has many combined years of experience in choosing appropriate Mother's Day presents.

Mom might like a simple  glass vase of flowers or she might like exquisite floral designs in a ceramic container, our designers can create exactly what your Mom prefers.  Perhaps Mom would like something living?  Our stores are stocked with a large array of green and blooming plants from peace lilies to kalanchoes, african violets to begonias.  Our orchid plants have just arrived and are absolutely gorgeous.   Air plants and succulents are currently very popular, we have a whole tree filled with glass globes filled with either of them.

You may say, "My Mom is not that interested in flowers".  That's fine, our Pewaukee location is filled with many other gifts.  Since our store is less than a mile from Pewaukee Lake, we have great lake gifts, signs, vases, mugs and even a boat to keep your drinks on ice.

Happy Mother's Day!

A Behind-the-Scenes Peek into Valentine's Day!

It's hard to believe that it's almost here!  That famous day of love...St. Valentine's Day.  It's by far the busiest floral holiday of the year, and you can feel it in the air here at Bank of Memories & Flowers. We begin the Valentine's Day preparation months in advance, from pre-ordering our flowers, to choosing this years specialty containers, chocolates, and stuffed animals.

As we approach the holiday, the buzz and excitement builds here at the store.  Our shop owner Melissa puts together an "Emergency Kit" filled with snacks and goodies for all of us gals and our fearless drivers.  Krista and Luan, our managers, put together contests and challenges to keep us on our toes and make this busy and stressful holiday a fun and light-hearted one.   And all of us workers bring in food for a week-long pot luck, so we don't have to worry about making lunches each day!   And this is just the non-floral prep for this big day!

This week, we will receive countless boxes of roses and other fresh flowers, each requiring special processing and care.  The holiday containers and candies get unpacked and the shelves stocked.  After all of this, we are ready to assist customers with their individual requests.  After the orders are taken, each order is hand-designed by one of our team members, packaged with care, and sent out into the be delivered by one of our friendly delivery drivers!

It's sounds like we are ready for Valentine's Day....ARE YOU?  Give us a call, we're ready to help you make this holiday of love a truly special one!  1-262-253-9111 for our Menomonee Falls store, and 1-262-695-9911 for our Pewaukee store.

New Years Resolutions for 2016

It's that time again, the time of year when we all contemplate our New Year's Resolutions.  What will it be this year?  Promises to lose weight, go to the gym more often, or to quit smoking, usually top the list of resolutions every year for a lot of us.  We try to do our best but every year we take on more than we can handle.  This year can be different, and this resolution can increase your well being and happiness as well as those around you.

BUY YOURSELF MORE FLOWERS!! Europeans have done this for years, they stop by a florist or flower cart and buy flowers for THEMSELVES.  Flowers are not a luxury, they are a staple, just like air and water.  A study done by Rutgers University found that having flowers in the home triggers happy emotions and have a long term positive effect on mood.  Not only do flowers visually stimulate us, they also induce memories through our sense of smell.  A beautifully scented lily wafting through the house does more to alleviate anxiety and depression than one would believe.

If you don't feel comfortable picking up flowers for yourself, then buy flowers for others.  Nothing gives me greater joy than seeing the faces of people who are receiving a flower delivery.  Receiving flowers is a joy but it is a joy for  the giver as well.  Studies have shown that senior citizens who receive flowers suffer less confusion, less depression and feel a greater sense of community.  What a powerful gift!

So, go out there with your NEW New Years Resolution, adding flowers to your daily life or the lives of those around you!!

Bridal Show - Save the Date!

This Christmas she peers into the small velvet box to find the one thing she has been wishing for all year.  As she looks up, she finds her prince charming on bended knee.  'Tis the season for so many happy ladies as they begin to plan their dream wedding!

If you are lucky enough to fall into this group of happy ladies, save the date for the Wonderful World of Weddings at the Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair on January 10th and 11th, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Bank of Memories & Flowers is one of the 175 professionals that can help you plan everything leading up to your big day...and all under one roof!

Be sure to stop by our booth to meet our team of top wedding floral designers!  We will have an array of real wedding bouquets that you can actually hold and touch.  Our bouquets will be inspired by the latest trending colors and styles.

A few tips to prepare you before the Bridal Show:

  •  After walking away from a vendor, take notes that will help you distinguish him or her (when you get home everything will blend together!)
  • Bring address labels -- many vendors will have you fill out information about yourself and this will save you lots of time (and writing!)
  • Bring your calendar to book consultations on the spot (they fill up fast!)
  • Make sure to plan enough time -- sitting down halfway through will help you regroup
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes
  • Bring one or two friends or family members (an entourage is just going to slow you down)
Looking forward to seeing you there!

A Bride Returns to Say "Thanks"

One of the best parts of what we get to do each day is hearing from past brides. This particular newlywed emailed us this fall to tell us just how grateful she was for the flowers we provided for her wedding day (and also attached some amazing photos!). Here are her comments and some of the images her photographer, Jessica Quist, snapped of the wedding day blooms:

I wanted to thank you for the beautiful flowers for our wedding on June 7th.  I was speechless when I saw our flowers after they were delivered to the church, better than I could have ever imagined!  The colors were perfectly matched and perfect complements.  You were also so kind to create such a large unity candle flower arrangement for us after I had changed our order at the last minute.  I would had never expected such a breath taking arrangement from simply changing a few boutonnieres and corsages for our readers and Godparents to a unity candle arrangement.

Alyssa and Josh

Once again, Alyssa and Josh, thank YOU for allowing us the incredible opportunity to be a part of one of the most memorable days of your lives! And thank you for returning to say "thanks" -- your words make all of the work oh-so worth it ;)

Mia + Brandon = Wedding Day

Reception: The Bog, Saukville
Photographer:  Edward Fox
Month: June

Picture an enchanted forest and this is exactly the atmosphere surrounding Mia and Brandon's Wedding Day.  Mia was a stunning bride, complete with her full ball gown style wedding dress. The wedding arrangements were filled with ivory garden hydrangeas, cream roses, and off white peonies. Birch branches accented it all for a soft woodland feel.Truly magnificent!

Cylindrical vases of 24" tall adorned the length of the church aisle. The vases alternated, some with floating candles and birch branches submerged in water while the others held simply elegant lush mounds of fresh ivory hydrangeas.

The bride's father's kiss on her cheek prior to giving her away was by far my favorite moment of the entire day.

The enchanted forest feel carried over to the reception: the cylindrical vases were used as centerpieces on the tables and the altar arrangements were used by the fireplace.  We absolutely loved the various charming little details, such as the bride and groom's initials as well as the table numbers which were covered in moss and the place card table decorated to resemble a forest floor. And what forest atmosphere would be complete without S'mores? The wedding guests enjoyed these as their favors -- how cute (and delicious!).

The day was truly splendid, from beginning to end and we were so happy to be a part of it. From all of us at Bank of Memories & Flowers, we wish Mia and Brandon a Happily Ever After!

As Good in the Vase as it is in the Garden...

Here at the Bank of Memories & Flowers shop, we always love having something unique and fun to work with. This past week, it's been Veronica or Speedwell, as it is sometimes called, grown in the garden at our Pewaukee location.

I've always been a huge fan of this plant and its blooms in the perennial garden but I never really thought of it as a cutflower. After seeing it in the bouquets and corsages we've done this week, I've definitely changed my mind!

These vibrantly pink Veronica stems add amazing texture and a fun twist on an otherwise common bouquet. The hue plays off of that of the Gerbera daisy perfectly.

After being asked by multiple customers what these little beauties were, we realized that we weren't the only ones intrigued by them! And the coolest part? Veronica is a perennial here in the Upper Midwest! Grown in sunny locations, the common blue variety of this plant is one of the truest blues available in a blooming plant.

These plants grow in a mounding habit, approximately 1 - 3 feet tall. As if the beauty and cutflower use of these blooms wasn't enough, they also are great attractors for pollinators, such as butterflies, hummingbirds, and honey bees.

The Veronica stems were the perfect addition to this corsage, completely the more "natural" garden look.

Summer is upon us, so why not head to your local garden center and pick up a few plants? Or just come on in and ask us -- we may just have some to put in a bouquet for you!
